Rachel~tasks for the week!

A good, busy week!  Here's an overview...
  • Worked on performer directory (we're hearing back from folks via email, and getting lots of good suggestions from librarians. yay for progress!)
  • Read some books for potential flip-cam book reviews :-) and watched videos on youtube of reviews
  • Checked blogs/articles on Google Reader (good for getting future blog post ideas~ so much cool and interesting stuff. Google Reader is magical!)
  • Posted to the Youth Services Blog and Tweeted on Thursday
  • Read/researched ALA gaming day!
  • Uploaded and edited lots of photos (summer reading, McKeesport Library renovations) on Flickr

Week's Tasks- Lindsey :-)

  • worked on performer directory, contacted more people! (most performers are getting back with me, and I believe that the spreadsheet is coming along nicely!)
  • read through the "Water Book" and reviewed it for Kelley
  • worked on blog posts, tweeted!
  • packed guidelines and magazines to be sent to librarians across the county
  • read blogs for information- found some good stuff for future blog posts!
  • reviewed picture books to make videos, watched reviews of books on youtube for examples

Great weekly posts, guys - thanks!  You guys are really rockin' it.  No worries if you don't include every single thing you did one week.  Overall pictures are great.  Sounds like the performer directory is going well.  Are you hearing back from most of them?  And getting any suggestions from the librarians?

Tasks for the week!

  • Posted to the Youth Services blog/added link to article on the Youth Services Wiki
  • Worked on the Performer Directory quite a bit with Lindsey (emailing performers, updating entries, etc.)
  • Emailed all Youth Services folks for additional performer contacts
  • Tweeted!
  • Attended Summer Reading follow-up meeting on Friday! Lots of good feedback. :-)

Another good week! I feel like there are some tasks I'm forgetting to include, but this is the overall picture :-) Really looking forward to the water theme for Summer Reading 2010--lots of ideas for this.

Week Two Things!

Here's what I've been up to this week...
  • Explored Delicious and everything that goes with it!
  • Watched the video on social bookmarking
  • Learned how to use vimeo/upload videos from the FLIP!
  • Posted to the ACLA Youth Services blog (intro. video!!)
  • Created an introductory page "Meet Rachel!!" on the wiki. FUN!
  • Read the article "Libraries at the Heart of our Community" for next week's blog post (second post)
  • Checked out ACLA's Flickr account, and learned how to edit/upload photos
  • Started working on the Performers Directory (contacting performers to check on information)

'Twas a good, productive week! Lots more work will be done on the Performers Directory in the coming weeks.

Week 2 Tasks!

Another exciting week at the ACLA youth services!
  • learning how to upload videos on to Vimeo from Flip camcorder
  • learning how to post to the ACLA blog
  • creating a first blog post, uploading video onto post ( I look AMAZING in the opening :)
  • learning how to upload and edit photos on Flickr
  • creating an About Me!! page for the Wiki, adding photos
  • working on the performer directory, creating excel spreadsheet
  • contacted performers to update information
  • read blogs, worked on future blog posts

Rachel--tasks for week one!

It's been a great first week! Here's what I've been up to:





-Created a Google Reader account and subscribed to some cool blogs


-Watched a video on the RSS reader and a video on how to use Twitter


-Completed all paperwork


-Read the article "A Quiet Crisis"


-Explored the ACLA website


-Familiarized myself with the ACLA Youth Services blog and wiki


-Created an introductory video and took lots of sweet pictures with Lindsey!!!


-Learned how to use PBWorks


-Explored various cool and informative blogs on children's resources/education!!


-Attended a Summer Reading follow-up meeting with Sherry from Scott Library

  • creating a video introduction and taking introduction pictures with Rachel (fun!)
  • learning how to navigate the pbwiki and post on the blog
  • tweeting on Twitter
  • touring the Millvale Boathouse and Washington's Landing of the Pittsburgh Rowing Association with Kelley (I want to start rowing now!)
  • signing up for various blogs on Google Reader, read through some of the blogs
  • viewing videos on social bookmarking, RSS feeds, and pbwiki
  • reading "Quiet Crises" article
