Laurren's 4th week

- Attended District Meeting where I learned about economic troubles of libraries, explored solutions of how to keep children’s departments successful, realized that when I go for my PHD that I should focus on measuring tools for librarians (because we need to get away from circulation counts), learned about a wonderful opportunity a few librarians have had to go to Norway and learned about a mother’s day event some of the librarians from Northern Public Library have started.
- E-mailed Chuck about the Book Mobile, Anita and I are planning on riding with them on the 7th of February
- Worked on the One Book project, Anita created a Google document that I added to, we gave Beth the doc and we will continue to work on this project
- Explored publisher some more
- Wrote a blog
- working SRC things for meeting tomorrow

this week

sorry - forgot to do it yesterday!

This week I primarily worked on research for the Tween Task Force and the Wise Walk project for Charity (which I'm now finished with). The Wise Walk project was much more time consuming than I expected!

Laurren and I are getting together in a bit to work on The Giver project and I think booklists?

Laurren week three

- Contacted Monty Burch:
All they have is this token system. We can park our cars there in the morning and then on the way out put the tokens in the slot. Normal parking is 5 dollars, he spoke with the owner and said that they can sell us 100 tokens at a time for 4.50 a piece, if I did my math correctly this would be $450, which would be $225 for parking for each event if we don’t go over 50 cars. Monty gave me his e-mail and we can contact him when we’ve decided.

I recommend this, Anita and I keep the tokens and one of us goes out at the end of the day and just adds them to the slot as each car goes out, we should make sure to check this parking lot out when we visit on the 19th! My other recommendation is everyone just gets a coin at the end of the day.

-e-mailed opera offices confirm visit to the Opera Office February 19th at 9:30am.
-put performers directory on Google documents
-labeled brochures at the office
- e-mailed SRC about feb19th
- E-mailed LeeAnn about plans for meeting on the 26th for district meeting, this was confirmed we will meet Kelley at 8:10 on Southside!
- Called CafĂ© Papa J’s (412-429-7272) and made reservations for noon on the 26th , (I wasn’t sure what number to give them so I gave them my cell number and the reservation is under Kelley.) He also asked if it will be all on one check, I said I wasn’t sure but that it would probably be a few checks.
- looked at SRC invites and told Kelley to add a deadline
-Friday I have a publisher class and we have the SRC video event
- E-mailed Bookmobile person about riding with them on a weekend run with Anita
-Emailed Elaine about a day for knowledge connection visit (where is this?)
- Wrote blog
- Things I need to work on soon: e-mail librarians about a visit, booklists on tween wiki, poster training class involvement, continue working on performers directory, plan days with Anita for those visits, work on other ideas for SRC

1/12-1/16 anita

This week I've spent a lot of time working on my project for Charity, and I've also been compiling the Tween email addresses and reading blogs.

Over the weekend I'll be spending quite a bit of time doing research on Tween services, posting to the blog, and shaping up Netvibes/LibraryThing. Sorry, I'll probably be doing most of my work over the weekends this semester.

Also...I'm SUPER PUMPED that the One Book is THE GIVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what i was up to over the break...

...not tons haha, especially because i didn't have a very reliable internet connection. but i did keep up with reading blogs pretty well, looked over some things for Charity (only to realize that the info i really need is at the acla office, oops), and worked on setting up a demo netvibes page for summer reading. probably only 4 hours or so total, but hey, it was break =)
